Butterflies and Community Helpers

We had some much fun this week learning about people who make Bella Vista a better place to live.  We read stories, made crafts, and enjoyed visitors.
These friends are working as veterinarians to make this puppy feel better.

We are so thankful Officer Spann brought his police car when he came to visit.

Teamwork helped us complete the Community Helpers Alphabet puzzle.

Caterpillar visitor

Officer Steve from the Bella Vista Police Department visited our classroom this morning.  The students sat quietly and listened as he told about the tools he carries and how he does his job.  He wanted to be sure the children knew to dial '911' in an emergency, and that a police officer will always help when you ask.
The police car was in the parking lot, and we got a chance to sit in the back seat (see  blog pictures).  Officer Steve then turned on all the flashing lights, and after a warning to cover our ears, blasted the siren for a few seconds.  We appreciated his time and his demeanor with the children,

Butterfly community helper fun

YEA!  We had a full week of school,  This week we did one day of "d" week and two days of community helpers.

Police Officer Cole gives a ride to Hank.

It took teamwork but we finished this large community helpers puzzle.

Caterpillar Community Helpers

Community Helper of choice on the playground today was Zoo Keeper.  Mrs. Lewis got to be the Zoo Keeper, and the animals ran the zoo.  My locks did a very poor job of keeping monkeys and tigers in their cages, even when I offered chocolate/banana ice cream!  Hopefully as we further our discussion next week there will be a job at which I can succeed.

Tigers tend to travel in packs, while monkeys stay closer to home...
